June 23, 2025

EUGENE, Ore.---Eboselulu Omofoma represented the Biola women's track & field team at the USA Track & Field U20 Championships at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

"I saw U20s as a door of possibility," stated Omofoma. My coach, my good friends, my family, and ultimately the Lord, one way or another, placed me on that track of champions. To compete at the U20s meant that I could do just that, compete. It wasn't about winning, it was about the experience, the privilege of competing at such an esteemed meet among the elite."

"I cannot mention how it felt without mentioning the immense amount of nervousness that followed me from my hometown, Greeley, Colorado, to the finish line in Eugene," continued Omofoma. "My experience was breathtaking nonetheless, and the stadium itself was larger than life. Knowing that I was sharing the same track, seats, and warm-up field as world champions and Olympians, specifically Sydney McLaughlin, was unbelievable. Not to mention, the future champions whom I ran alongside or witnessed. It definitely reignited my desire to just keep running. That track competition was something I hope my coach, my parents, my family, and my friends can point to and say for themselves, 'look what God did'."

Omofoma finished fifth overall in the women's 400m hurdles. She clocked 59.69 in the final after running 59.31 in the preliminaries.

"On day one she showed up in sunshine and then in rain the next day, no matter the conditions she delivered," stated associate head coach Justin Johnson. "Finishing 5th in the nation and earning All-American honors, she didn't just run the race, she made her mark. I am extremely proud of Ebi and all that she's accomplished this season. She deserves some much needed rest! Can't wait to get back at it next season."

"If not for my friends on the Biola track team, Keeley Chard and Joshua Widdows, I actually would not have even known about the competition," shared Omofoma. "They encouraged me to look into it. I told Coach Johnson, and from the beginning, he was determined to use all the resources allotted to him to make sure I got there and had the best chance. Not to mention the 9 months of carefully calculated training that prepared me in more ways than one. From Jumps workouts from Coach Nadya, to Sean Henning's encouragement, to endurance training with the unfazed group of girls, I was prepared both physically and mentally. I know there were dozens of unseen emails, discussions, and faculties involved that I will never know that made this competition possible, and for that, I am grateful. I am grateful that I got to rep the Biola uniform at the meet."

Omofoma concluded, "I am looking forward to applying this newfound courage to my meets next season. I want to run with a little less fear and a little more confidence, not in "winning" but in competing. I want to help my teammates be confident and watch them do amazing things. I want to glorify God from the first practice to the final meeting, no matter the results."
