Six Eagles Named All-Region

The Biola track & field program had six athletes earn All-Region recognition from the USTFCCCA.

LA MIRADA---The Biola track & field program had six athletes earn All-Region recognition from the USTFCCCA. 

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

Bethany Mapes, Lynette Ruiz, Maggie Williams, Robby Porter, Melt von Molendorff and Joshua Widdows were the Eagles' All-Region recipients. 

Mapes was All-Region in two events, the 1500 and 5000. The Junior set personal bests in both events this season, 4:25.04 in the 1500 and 16:29.80 in the 5000. At the PacWest Championships, Mapes was All-PacWest and first in the 5000 and finished fourth in the 1500. She advanced to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 1500 where she finished 19th in the preliminary round. Mapes hold the Biola Women's Track & Field School Record in the 1500 and 5000.

Ruiz was USTFCCCA All-Region in the 10k with her season-best time of 34:57.53. The Senior won the 10k at the PacWest Championships and ranks 28th in the nation. Ruiz also holds the Biola Women's Track & Field School Record in the 10k. 

Williams was named All-Region in the 800m with her season-best time of 2:08.19. Williams competed in the 800 at the NCAA DII Track & Field Championships, finishing 19th in the provisional round. The Junior was All-PacWest and third in the 800 at the PacWest Championships.

Porter was USTFCCCA All-Region in the high jump with his personal best distance of 2.03m.

Von Molendorff earned All-Region recognition in the 10k with his personal best time of 29:44.53. He won the 10k at the PacWest Championships and ranks 41st in the nation in the event. Von Molendorff also holds the Biola Men's Track & Field School Record in the 10k.

Widdows was named All-Region in the 400m hurdles. The Freshman had a season to remember, advancing to the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the event. Widdows placed 17th in the preliminary round of the 400H at the T&F Championships. He was also named Track Freshman of the Year. Additionally, Widdows holds Biola Men's Track & Field School Records in the 60m hurdles, 110 hurdles and 400m hurdles.
