Biola baseball entered postseason play on Wednesday and fell to No. 6 and top-seeded Westmont.

FRESNO, Calif. --- The kickoff to the PacWest Baseball Championships featured a matchup with No. 4 seed Biola and No. 1 seed Westmont. The Warriors got the beat on the Eagles in a 7-2 ballgame, forcing the BU squad into an elimination game on Thursday.

BU's first postseason action came on Wednesday in Fresno, California. The team qualified for the PacWest Championships for the first time with a record of 23-21 in conference play.

The Eagles faced the sixth-ranked team in the nation in Westmont and kept a low-scoring affair in the early going.

Gabe Magallan drew the start and maintained a clean sheet through the first six outs. He worked around a triple in the first frame, and punched out three Warriors through the top two innings.

WC did hit the scoreboard first with a solo shot in the third and a flurry of hits in the fourth.

The Eagles grabbed a run in the fifth, behind a double from Noah Ruiz. Nick Madole scored from first base, as the RBI hit from Ruiz pulled BU within three at 4-1.

The Warriors continued to find success at the dish, scoring three runs through the fifth and sixth frames. The top seed in the tournament notched all seven of its runs from the third through the sixth innings.

Ruiz offered another big hit, hitting a home run in the eighth. The moon shot came with the bases empty, as his solo homer marked his second RBI of the day.

Blake Wentz put together a good outing on the mound, going 2.2 innings without allowing a run. The BU righty kept the Eagles within range in the latter innings, giving up four hits and striking out one through the final eight outs.

Biola will have another chance in the PacWest Tournament on Thursday, as they will face the loser of Hawaii Pacific and Point Loma at 11:00 am in an elimination game at Dan Martin Stadium in Fresno, California.
