LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team had five athletes named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District List. Raquel Reyes, Makayla Jordan, DJ Symons, Alexa Medley and Jackie Ibarra were the Eagles' 2025 All-District selections.
The 2025 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Ibarra, Medley and Reyes were chosen as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will move on to the national ballot. Academic All-American honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.
Graduate Students Reyes and Jordan led their team with 4.0 GPAs.
Reyes, working on her multiple subject master's, adds Academic All-District to a long list of accolades for the 2025 season. She was a Second Team All-PacWest Pitcher and Designated Player, a NFCA Second Team All-West Region utility/pitcher and a D2CCA Second Team All-West Region utility/pitcher.
The dual threat ended the season with a 2.27 ERA and a .327 batting average. She was 12-5 overall in the circle, threw 126.1 innings, three complete games, had two solo shutouts, one save and recorded 68 strikeouts. Offensively, Reyes had 54 hits, 13 doubles and four home runs. She also recorded 31 RBIs, scored 15 times and has an OPS of .833.
Jordan graduated this spring with her master's in Leadership and Innovation. The Eagles' starting right fielder batted .291 with 48 hits, 12 doubles, three triples and five home runs. She also had 37 RBIs which was the second-highest on her team. She was also a Third Team All-PacWest pick.
Symons, a First Team All-PacWest selection, ended the year with a 3.92 GPA in Public Health. Symons led the Eagles' pitching staff with a 17-5 overall record, 2.10 ERA, 113 strikeouts, 157 innings pitched and 12 complete games thrown. She also had two shutouts and two saves.
Medley finished her sophomore campaign with a 3.79 GPA in her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood. Medley was also named First Team All-PacWest and NFCA Second Team All-West Region for the 2025 season.
Medley, BU's starting second baseman, batted .358 with 67 hits, three doubles and three triples. Additionally, Medley recorded 11 stolen bases, scored 40 times and ended the year with a fielding percentage of .963.
Ibarra finished her sophomore season with a 3.62 GPA in liberal studies. Along with her Academic All-District honor, Ibarra has been named First Team All-PacWest, NFCA First Team All-Region and D2CCA Second Team All-Region. Ibarra led her team with a .415 batting average and 85 hits. Additionally, she recorded 23 RBIs, scored 53 times and has an OPS of .886.
Defensively, Ibarra ended the year with a fielding percentage of .990, 91 putouts and four assists.
