Omofoma Advances to Finals

The Biola track & field team had three athletes compete on Thursday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

PUEBLO, Colo.---The Biola track & field team had three athletes compete on Thursday at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Ebose Omofoma qualified for the finals of the 400 hurdles, finishing third in the preliminary round with a personal best time of 59.03. The Freshman's time in the 400 hurdles was also a school record. The Biola Women's Track & Field previous program best was 59.55 in the 400 hurdles by Emily Alvarez in 2021. 

"We are very proud of Ebi and how she ran tonight," stated head coach Sean Henning. "She ran like she's been here before which was very impressive to watch. She looked very confident and wasn't intimidated by the girls in her race. Coach Johnson did a great job getting her prepared for this race and we are excited for what the Lord is going to do in the finals on Saturday!"


Omofoma will compete in the finals of the 400m hurdles on Saturday, May 24th at 7:25 p.m.

Bethany Mapes and Joshua Widdows also competed in preliminary events on Thursday. Mapes ran in the 1500m run and Widdows competed in the 400m hurdles.

Mapes placed 19th of 22 runners in the 1500 with a time of 4:43.94.

"Bethany has had a long season and we were very proud of her for forgetting this far," stated Henning. "She had to show up at the last chance meat and put it all together on the day to make it here and she did it. This will be a great learning experience for her as she gets ready for cross country. very grateful she got the opportunity to be out here to compete with the best!"

Widdows finished 17th of 20 runners with a time of 53.58 in the 400m hurdles.

"We are proud of Josh, he made it very far and has been dealing with a hamstring injury for the last month," shared Henning. "The fact that he was even here competing is a testament to his passion and commitment to the sports. This will be a great motivator for him for next year and the experience will be invaluable."
