Coasting Past Concordia

The Eagles nabbed a major win on Thursday with 15 runs in game two.

LA MIRADA --- The Biola bats went crazy in game two, as the Eagles split the day with Concordia (22-24, 20-22 PacWest). BU piled on 15 runs with 16 hits, as they routed the Golden Eagles, 15-5.

The hits began to flow in the third inning for Biola. Six hits and a hit-by-pitch turned into seven runs. Six-straight batters reached base, as the team batted through the lineup in the frame. Luke Caruso and Cole Thomson doubled in the at bat to help bring in runs for the squad.

The effort was repeated in the fourth inning, as Biola put up another seven-spot on the scoreboard. The first five hitters reached base, including a three-run home run from the BU shortstop Caruso. Nick Madole and Noah Ruiz added to the fun with back-to-back doubles, tacking on a combined three more runs.  Cole Wentz entered the game in the fourth and maintained the momentum with a pinch hit RBI single.

Ruiz added a third double on the day, tacking on the 15th and final run in the sixth inning, scoring Madole from first base.

Luke Ballantyne got the ball to start and delivered 4.2 innings. The southpaw struck out 10, while giving up just two runs in his sixth win of the season.

The relief effort came from a trio of Eagles, including Josh Eigenbrodt, Tristan Cazel, and Nico Hagadorn who made his collegiate debut.

From top to bottom, the BU lineup was filled to the brim with stellar performances. In the leadoff spot, Ruiz went 3-3 with three doubles, while Adiel Torres, James Whitman, Luke Caruso, Nicholas Whippo, and Nick Madole all logged two hits in the game. Caruso paced the team with four RBI in the win.

The game two win was crucial for Biola (24-25, 21-21 PacWest), as it put the team in position to secure a spot in the PacWest Tournament, needing just one win in Friday's doubleheader against CUI.

The series will wrap up on Friday with Senior Day festivities kicking things off, before the doubleheader begins at 12:00 pm at Eagles Diamond.
