Putting It All Together

Biola delivered in game one against Hawaii Hilo to kick off the four-game series with a win.

LA MIRADA --- Game one on Friday between Biola (21-23, 18-19 PacWest) and Hawaii Hilo (10-32, 8-28 PacWest) featured a little bit of everything for the Eagles. The BU squad hosted the first of a four-game series in La Mirada and pulled off a 4-2 victory.

Jack O'Brasky was the key cog, as things got rolling on Friday. The freshman righty went to work on the mound and found success against the Vulcan's lineup. The young talent made his way through five frames, giving up just one unearned run.

UHH managed just three hits against O'Brasky scattered across the five innings with all three being singles. O'Brasky struck out six batters on the way to his fifth win of 2025.

Blake Wentz took over for O'Brasky in the top of the sixth and continued to thrive. Wentz posted two scoreless frames, holding the BU lead before handing the ball to Dylan Alanis with six outs left.

Alanis cruised through the first three batters in the eighth, before heading to the ninth with a save opportunity. An unearned run came across, while the tying run stood on second base but Alanis got the final out to secure the win and his sixth save of the season.

On offense, the Eagles collected 10 hits split between five batters. Four Eagles logged multiple hits including Noah Ruiz with three and Isaiah Leon, Luke Caruso, and Josh McAninch with two.

The first runs came through in the bottom of the first for BU. The top of the lineup loaded the bases with one out and Luke Caruso took advantage. He launched a 1-1 pitch to the fence, bringing in two runs for the squad with a double.

In the fourth inning, McAninch led off with a walk and made his way around the bases thanks to a Nick Madole sacrifice bunt and an Isaiah Leon RBI single.

Another Madole sacrifice paved the way for a BU run in the sixth inning, as a safety squeeze scored Jonny Tewinkle for a 4-1 BU lead.

Game two of Friday's doubleheader is set to start at 3:30 pm at Eagles Diamond.
