NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev.---The Biola women's golf team was crowned the 2025 PacWest Conference Champions. The Eagles were led by Karis Haltom who earned top honors as the PacWest's Individual Champion.

"I am excited for my team and happy that we brought home another PacWest Conference Championship," stated Haltom. "Winning as an individual is a college memory I will never forget. It was super exciting and great achievement for me!"

The Eagles won the conference championships with a three-round scorecard of 16-above-par 880. Biola's team score of 880 is their lowest three round team tournament score in program history. Their previous best three-round team tournament score was 894 in 2022 at the Dennis Rose Invitational.

Biola claimed the PacWest Conference's Women's Golf Championship title for the third time in the past four years.

BU dominated the 10-team field. The Eagles led the PacWest's second place team, Hawaii Pacific, by 20 strokes. The Eagles also led the field in birdie scoring, recording 49 throughout the three-day tournament. Rachel Shaw led Biola's birdie party, carding  12. She was followed by Haltom who had 11, Theresa Shaw who scored 10, Claire Shubin who recorded nine and Melanie Reyes who scored seven.

Haltom charged up the leaderboard to become the championships' medalist. The Sophomore was tied for 22nd after the first round, tied for third after the second and then came up victorious after the third. This was also her first collegiate tournament win.

Haltom's final scorecard was two-above-par 218. She scored five-above-par 77 in round one, four-under 68 in round two (a personal best) and one-above 73 in the final.

When asked about her final round, Haltom reflected, "The last day I was super calm and trying to play simple golf."

"Karis really hit her stride this tournament," stated head coach Jane Carr. "She has worked so hard this year and in golf you have to commit to the process even when you don't see the results right away. I am so excited that it all came together for her at PacWest."

Carr continued, "Day two going four-under-par just fueled her confidence. Karis was poised and focused all day. She really stayed in the moment and disassociated from the score. I think she was hoping after her final putt that she had a top 10 finish and was a bit surprised when my assistant told her she was in the lead."

Three other Eagles finished in the top 10. Rachel Shaw placed seventh with a final score of five-above-par 221. Theresa Shaw finished ninth with a scorecard of seven-above 223. Shubin tied for 10th with her three-round score of eight-above 224.

Reyes tied for 16th overall with her three-round score of 12-above par 228.

Haltom and Theresa Shaw tied for Biola's lowest score in the third round, both recording one-above 73. Reyes had the next-best round of three-above-par 75 and she was followed by Shubin (+4, 76) and Rachel Shaw (+6, 78).

The Eagles will continue to work hard as they prepare for the NCAA Division II Regional at the Tacosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas.
