NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev.---The Biola women's golf team turned up the heat in the second round of the PacWest Championships. 

The Eagles second round team score of four-under-par 284 allowed them to jump up to first place of 10 teams. Biola trailed Hawaii Pacific by five strokes after the first round and leads them by 10 after round two.

Karis Haltom led Biola in the second round with a personal best single round score of four-under-par 68 with six birdies. The Sophomore's impressive round moved her up from T22 to T3 on the leaderboard. Her second round was also the lowest of the field.

When asked about her personal best round, Haltom exclaimed, "It was so fun to play well today for my team and exciting to have my personal best at Conference!!"

Claire Shubin achieved Biola's next-best second round of three-under-par 69 with six birdies. Following Shubin in round two was Rachel Shaw (+1), Melanie Reyes (+2) and Theresa Shaw (+5).

Rachel Shaw continues to lead Biola on the leaderboard in the second round. She is tied for first with Menlo's Rori Fanning with a two-round score of one-under-par 143.

When Rachel Shaw was asked what her thoughts were after round two, she stated, "When I finished my round today and heard that we had 22 birdies as a team, I was in shock in the best way. We didn't have the greatest day yesterday, but knew we were still in good position. We knew today was moving day, and the team did just that. We had an incredible day and I'm excited to take that energy into tomorrow."

Behind Rachel Shaw on the scoreboard is Haltom (T3, +1), Shubin (T9, +4), Theresa Shaw (T14, +6) and Reyes (T22, +9).

BU leads the field with 35 birdies, 22 of which were recorded in the second round.

The Eagles have one more round to go which begins at 11:20 a.m. at the Aliante Golf Club.
