Offense Shines in NorCal Finish

The Menlo series wrapped up with another split for Biola baseball, despite 10 runs in seven innings.

ATHERTON, Calif. --- The Biola lineup was efficient in a seven inning affair on Saturday but Menlo got the better of the Eagles (18-21, 15-17 PacWest). A 13-10 scoreline in favor of the Oaks (7-31, 5-27 PacWest) wrapped up a four-game series.

The top three in the lineup lit up the base path in game two on Saturday. The trio combined for 10 of the team's 15 hits with Adiel Torres and Noah Ruiz recording four hits apiece.

Ruiz tallied four hits in five at bats, scoring three times with a double and a solo home run. Torres extended his hitting streak to 20 games with a 4-5 game at the plate. The sophomore laced a double and a homer as well, finishing with three RBI and two runs scored.

Luke Caruso also had a monster day on offense. The BU shortstop offered three hits in five opportunities at the dish, logging one double and one RBI.

Aidan Cube offered 1.2 innings on the mound for the Eagles without allowing a run. The lefty has been on strike from giving up scores for the opponents, going over five-consecutive innings through three appearances without allowing a run.

Three innings of four or more runs helped the Oaks outdo the Eagles on the scoreboard.

Five runs for the Eagles in the final two frames pushed for a comeback effort but it was not enough in the 13-10 final.

Biola was active on the base path on Saturday, recording four steals in game two.

The Eagles will return home for a 12-game homestand, beginning against Fresno Pacific on Friday at 12:00 pm.
