Eagles Start Ben Brown

The Biola track & field team’s field athletes and distance runners saw some action in the first day of the Ben Brown Invitational.

FULLERTON, Calif.---The Biola track & field team's field athletes and distance runners saw some action in the first day of the Ben Brown Invitational.

Cody Bondy had the highest finish of the day for BU's throwers, placing fourth with a mark of 46.59m in the javelin. Mark Sizelove also earned a top 10 finish in the javelin with his throw of 42.06m.

Nathan Wilson recorded a personal best throw of 37.91 in the hammer throw. Hope Willis led BU's women in the hammer with a throw of 39.59m. Norah DeYoung (38.08m) and Ella Hoang (37.32m) recorded personal bests in the hammer.

A.J. Antonio recorded a top 10 finish in the long jump, placing eighth of 24 athletes with a mark of 6.71. Biola's women was led by Ebose Omofoma in the long jump with a mark of 5.04m.

Aidan Erickson matched his personal best mark of 4.30m in the pole vault.

Biola's distance runners also had a good day. Maggie Williams had the highest finish of the day, placing fourth with a time of 2:11.67 in the 800m run. Ella Voris also finished in the top half of runners in the women's 800, placing 15th (2:17.38). Ben Sonneland led the Eagles' men in the 800 run with an eighth place finish (1:54.82). Nick Geringer also finished in the top half of athletes in the 800, finishing 21st with a time of 2:00.04. 

Bethany Mapes was the first Division II athlete to finish in the 5000m run. Mapes finished sixth with a time of 16:51.02. Lynette Ruiz (22nd, 17:26.73), Jaina Kang (27th, 17:45.63) and Hailey Wurzbach (34th, 17:55.74) also finished in the top half of runners in the 5000.

On the men's side, Melt von Molendorff was the first DII runner to cross the finish line. Von Molendorff placed 10th with a personal best time of 14:18.31. Aidan Tomasini also recorded a pr in the 5000, finishing 19th at 14:25.49. Rouxan Le Roux ran in the 5000 for the first time in his collegiate career at Biola and finished 44th with a time of 14:52.22.
