XC USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC 2024

Swift Smarties

Biola Cross Country added to another remarkable season with a flux of academic awards flowing in.

February 07, 2025

NEW ORLEANS --- Talent on and off the course permeates through the Biola Cross Country rosters. The two teams were amongst the best across the country for team grade-point average to go along with nine combined USTFCCCA All-Academic athletes.

The USTFCCCA awarded teams and individuals, who shined academically, in addition to their athletic accomplishments. All-Academic honors were given to teams with above a 3.0 GPA and to student–athletes with cumulative GPAs of at least 3.25, while scoring in the top 30.0 percent of all runners at their respective regional championships.

Each Biola squad grabbed the All-Academic Team awards with the women boasting a team GPA of 3.75 and the men carrying a GPA of 3.45. The women came in above all other PacWest programs, all other west region teams, and landed at No. 18 in the country. The men's team also came in with the best GPA among PacWest schools, while sitting in the top-40 in the nation.

The individual accolades poured in with five female and four male winners for Biola.

Karis Brown, Jaina Kang, Bethany Mapes, Lynette Ruiz, and Hailey Wurzbach all combined prowess on the course with academic success to be named USTFCCCA All-Academic athletes. The group helped the Eagles to a third-consecutive PacWest crown and trip to Nationals to pair with their success in the classroom.

On the men's side, Charlie Bailey, Jerry Baltzer, Rouxan le Roux, and Ryan Todd made the prestigious list. The group of four shined in the classroom, while pushing the team to its first nationals appearance since 2019.
