LAREDO, Texas --- Hailey Hays led day two in Texas, as the Biola Women's Golf squad locked in fourth place at the Jack Brown Memorial Tournament. The Eagles crew came in two strokes behind second place and five behind first place, after bettering their pace from day one by six.

The second and final round saw a team effort for Biola with all four scorers within four strokes of each other on the scorecard.

Hays was the leader in the clubhouse at 76 on day two. Consistency was key for the sophomore, tallying 14 pars and four bogeys. Hays posted the same score on the front and back nine with a 38 for both. She finished the tournament at +15 in a tie for 11th on the individual leaderboard.

Theresa Shaw was next on Tuesday, thriving on the back nine. She cruised through the back nine for a score of 36 and totaled three birdies on the day. Her round two score of 77 moved her into eighth place for the weekend with a total score of 157 (+13).

11 pars came through for Claire Shubin, who capped her tournament in a tie for third place, individually. Day two held a score of 80 (+8) for the grad transfer, as she finished the two days at 153 (+9).

Competing as an individual, Melanie Reyes added a pair of birdies on Tuesday. Both birdies came in the back nine, as she turned in a scorecard of 81 and finished the tournament tied for ninth, individually.

Karis Haltom rounded out the scorers for BU with a round of 80 (+8) on Tuesday. She finished tied for 20th and was followed by Laura Ortiz tied for 25th with a second round of 83 (+11).

Hole six was a point of strength for BU with five pars and a birdie on the par-four hole on Tuesday. On the other end, hole nine gave Biola fits with five-of-six Eagles landing a bogey or worse.

Three weeks lie in between now and Biola's next competition, when the team heads to Alameda, California for the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on February 24.
