LAREDO, Texas --- Biola Women's Golf hit the course for the first time since October on Monday at the Jack Brown Memorial Tournament. Claire Shubin paced the Eagles squad on day one, leading on the individual scoreboard and helping the team to number three.

The birdies were flying for Shubin at the Laredo Country Club in round one. She snuck under par on five holes, before ending the day at +1 with 73 strokes. The score was the best of all 37 players to hit the course.

The team offered up a score of 319 through round one, which tied for third place. +31 from the Eagles tied them with the host school, Texas A&M International, while those two teams trailed St. Mary's in first at +17 and Angelo State in second at +28.

Theresa Shaw was the next finisher for BU. She finished the day at +8 with 80 strokes tied for 12th place on the individual leaderboard. Shaw started and ended the day well with one birdie and eight pars between the first five and final four holes.

Hailey Hays, Karis Haltom, and Laura Oritz matched each other on the scorecard with rounds of 83. Haltom was one of only two players in the field to birdie hole number 13 on Monday.

Day two in Laredo, Texas is set to start on Tuesday at 7:00 am PT.
