Late Comeback Not Enough to Overcome Toros

The softball team began a seventh inning comeback that would fall just one run short, resulting in a 6-5 loss to nationally-ranked No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills.

CARSON, Calif.---The Biola softball team began a seventh inning comeback that  would fall just one run short, resulting in a 6-5 loss to nationally-ranked No. 15 Cal State Dominguez Hills at Toro Field.

The Eagles (2-5 overall) were chasing the Toros (8-2) by four runs when they began the top of the seventh (CSUDH 6-BU 2). Mikala Huskey singled to lead off the inning and then the Eagles momentum would be slowed as the Toros collected two back-to-back outs.

With their backs against the wall, the Biola softball team answered with a two-out rally. Huskey stole second and then took third from a Toro throwing error. Raquel Reyes then singled to score Huskey. Jackie Ibarra and Alexa Medley clutched up with back-to-back singles which loaded the bases. Makayla Jordan kept the inning going with a big double to right center that scored two runs and left the Eagles' chasing by one run (6-5).

Despite an admirable effort, Biola would fall just short as Cal State Dominguez Hills recorded the next out.

Biola scored their first two runs in the first and fifth innings. Jordan doubled to score BU's first run of the game and the second was scored off a Jackie Ibarra sacrifice fly.
