Box Score IRVINE, Calif.---The Biola softball team opened up 2025 with a 2-0 win over Sonoma State at the Concordia Kickoff Classic.

Kayla Bousquette set the tempo in the circle where she successfully kept the Seawolves off balanced. The Junior recorded the fourth shutout of her career and first of the year. She threw three 1-2-3 innings and earned nine strikeouts in her seven innings of work.

The Eagles had six hits against Sonoma State. Jackie Ibarra, Alexa Medley, Makayla Jordan, Kendall Nakano, Mikala Huskey and Kamryn Guthrie recorded their first hits of the season. 

Biola's offense found a way to break through the standstill in the sixth inning. Ibarra got the inning going, reaching first base by a Sonoma State error. Medley then singled to give BU runners on first and second. Next up was Kennadie Tsue who executed a sacrifice bunt which moved the runners in scoring position. Jordan clutched up next, scoring Biola's two runs with a single (2-0).

BU held SSU scoreless for the final two innings. Bousquette tallied three strikeouts in the last two innings.
