January 21, 2025

LA MIRADA---The beginning of season is just around the corner for Biola Softball. The Eagles' play their first game of the year in nine days at the CUI Kickoff Classic (Jan. 31 - Feb. 1).

The Eagles, coming off of a 19-27 overall record, were ranked fourth by the PacWest Conference coaches in the 2025 preseason poll.

BU ended the 2024 season at the first-ever PacWest Conference Softball Championships in San Rafael, California. The Eagles graduated a strong senior class of seven in 2024, four of which were all-conference selections.

Biola welcomes eight newcomers to join a returning roster of 12 which includes First Team All-PacWest selection second baseman Alexa Medley

"Overall, this class has been a great addition to our team," stated head coach Kristin Halte. "They challenge us on and off the field and have a desire to play for God."

Halte continued, "We are excited about the depth they add to our roster and the athleticism they all uniquely bring. We are excited about this class and feel they will make an immediate impact on our 2025 season."

The eight new Eagles included one graduate transfer from Columbia University and seven freshmen.

Raquel Reyes
Halte's thoughts on Reyes: "Raquel has been a great addition to our team. Raquel is a pitcher who, in the circle, carries herself with such poise and confidence. We love this about her and we're excited to see how our team feeds off of this in the spring."

Phebe Rodriguez
Halte's thoughts on Rodriguez: "Phebe is someone who has really come out of her shell. She is a hard worker with a lot of pop in her bat. We are excited to see her development over the next four years."

Maddie Granados
Halte's thoughts on Granados: "Maddie is someone we feel will make an immediate impact. She not only has a high IQ for the game, but can play just about anywhere. We are excited to see the depth that she will add to our hitting lineup and also in the circle."

Kendall Nakano
Halte's thoughts on Nakano: "Kendal is one that I believe will one day break Biola Softball's homerun record. She has a lot of pop in her bat in which we are excited to add her to our line-up. She also has a great glove to help in replacing our previous third baseman, Kaitlyn Hawkins."

Maddy Roth
Halte's thoughts on Roth: "Maddy is a late addition to the team. We have loved getting to know her this fall and seeing how she is developing. She has added some depth behind the plate as well as at third base. We are excited to see her develop over the next couple years as we believe she can make a future impact."

Sarah Ledford
Halte's thoughts on Ledford: "Sarah has been someone who hasn't said a whole lot this fall but has worked hard. She has been working at shortstop and we have seen great improvement in her overall IQ and athleticism at the position. We are excited to see her develop over time and feel she will help provide depth to our middle infield."

Leilani Salgado
Halte's thoughts on Salgado: "Leilani has been a surprise player for us. She picks things up quickly and moves with quickness. We believe she will be someone who will make an immediate impact on the bases and future impact in the middle infield."

Kamryn Guthrie
Halte's thoughts on Guthrie: "Kami didn't have the fall that she would have hoped for as she was sidelined with an injury. However, we anticipate Kamryn will also make some immediate impacts by adding depth to our line up and at first base. We have a huge gap to fill on our corners with the loss of two seniors and we feel Kami will be someone over time that will fill that loss."
