POMONA, Calif. --- The new year has arrived and the Eagles jumped back into the pool on Saturday. Biola Aquatics traveled to Pomona-Pitzer for a dual meet and fell in the first competition of 2025.

The Biola divers made a splash with a trio of event wins between the four events. Abby DePina cashed in on the 1M and 3M boards with a pair of victories with scores of 247.60 and 251.95, respectively. Lauren Smith was not far behind, nabbing second in the 3M and 3rd in the 1M.

On the men's side, Caleb Pook got the job done with a first place finish on the 1M board and a second place showing on the 3M board.

Malia Ciolli shined in the pool, performing well in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. She corralled a crown in the 200 breaststroke, coming in at 2:26.07, while also landing in second in the 100 race with a time of 1:07.67.

Ciolli added to the team's 200 medley relay along with Allison Yancey, Morgan Kampfer, and Phoebe Munholland, helping the group to a second place showing. The women's squad also scored second place in the 200 free relay in the final event of the day.

The men's team also collected a silver medal finish in the 200 medley relay behind a group of Nathan Griffin, Jacob Haaksma, Andrew Hanson, and Koen Vos.

Vos posted multiple podium finishes on Saturday, ranking third in the 100 backstroke at 54.12 and third in the 50 free at 21.84.

The long distance swims were dominated by Noah Hall and Josh Peace with top three placements in the 1000 and 500 freestyle swims. Peace captured the top spot in the 500, after nabbing third in the 1000. Hall, on the other hand, grabbed second place in both events.
