Challenging the Nation's Best

The men’s soccer team challenged No. 10 CPP in their 2-0 loss at Al Barbour Field.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's soccer team challenged the United Soccer Coaches No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona Broncos in their season opener at Al Barbour Field.

The Eagles went toe-to-toe with the Broncos in the first half, but CPP would come alive in the second to pull off a 2-0 victory.

Cal Poly Pomona outshot Biola 12-4, tallying six shots on goal to BU's three. Ethan Hardin was responsible for two of the Eagles' shots on goal and Justin Eisenmann contributed one.

Gijs van Schouten played 90 minutes as Biola's goalkeeper and made four saves against the Broncos.

Three additional Eagles played the full 90. Hardin anchored the midfield and Adrian Acevedo and Tomislav Jozinovic were the backbone of BU's defensive line.

Biola plays next on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 12 p.m. at CSU San Bernardino.
