July 30, 2024

LA MIRADA --- Biola swimming and diving has bolstered its coaching staff with the addition of Leah Thomas. The Eagles' new Lead Assistant Coach will join the squad in advance of the 2024-25 season.

Leah Thomas will look to help out both the men's and women's swim and dive squads led by Head Coach Nathan Harding.

"I am very excited to have Leah on staff to serve our student-athletes!" said Harding. "Leah will make an immediate impact in our program in regards to recruiting, training, and operations. While interviewing Leah, It was apparent that she fully understood the Biola student-athlete experience and was eager to be a part of the Biola community.  I'm looking forward to partnering with Leah to continue the elevation of the Biola Swim & Dive program."

Thomas is coming from Augustana College where she served as a graduate assistant for their swimming and diving program. Two years in Rock Island, Illinois was action-packed with back-to-back CCIW Conference Crowns for the men's squad and a conference title for the women's team in 2024.

Her swimming career came with many laurels, as Thomas thrived in the freestyle. At the University of Cumberlands, Thomas helped her squad to a third place finish at the NAIA National Championships. Her best event was the 200 free, earning a conference championship in the event and in the 800 free relay. She is also in the school record book for the 800 freestyle relay.

Thomas earned national and conference recognition for her work in the pool, as a NAIA All-American, CSCAA All-American, and MSC Individual and Relay Champion. She was also a great student-athlete with a MSC Academic All-American award, as well.

Thomas holds an undergraduate degree in Human Services and Public Health with a minor in Sports and Wellness Psychology from the University of Cumberlands and a Master's Degree in College Student Personnel with an emphasis in Higher Education Leadership.
