LA MIRADA---Biola Athletics remains a top university in the PacWest Conference for academic excellence, recording the most Academic All-PacWest selections and the fourth-highest cumulative GPA in the league.
The PacWest had a record-breaking total of 1,900 Academic All-PacWest selections, 239 of which were BU scholar-athletes. The Eagles' grand total of 239Â is the most selections in the PacWest and an all-time best for the Biola Athletic department.
Of the 1,900 PacWest Conference scholar-athletes, 129 had a 4.0 GPA which set a new record for the conference in that category. Thirteen of the 4.0 GPA's belonged to Biola student-athletes including: Jordan Rabe (women's basketball), Abigail Laberge (women's basketball), Hailey Wurzbach (XC, T&F), Karis Brown (XC, T&F), Robin Glöckle (men's soccer), Ashton Peloquin (men's soccer), Erika Haugen (women's soccer), Makayla Jordan (softball), Nathan Wilson (men's track & field), Caleb Murphy (men's track & field), Nick Geringer (men's track & field), Maria Vidal Poy (women's track & field) and Hannah Hanson (T&F, VB).
Biola Women's Golf had nine Academic All-PacWest selections which was the most in their sport. Men's Basketball (11), Women's Basketball (14) and Men's Track & Field (30) tied for the most scholar-athletes in their sports.
To be eligible for Academic All-PacWest, student-athletes were required to have at least a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average, completed at least two semesters at their institution and participated in regular season competition.

Biola had the fourth-highest cumulative GPA in the PacWest with a 3.448. Point Loma won the league's Academic Achievement Award with the highest overall athletic department GPA of 3.52. In regards to gender-specific cumulative GPAs, Biola had the second-best women's sports GPA of 3.54 and the men were third best in their gender with a 3.347.Â
Biola Men's Cross Country (3.529), Women's Cross Country (3.693), Softball (3.635) and Men's Track & Field (3.494) had the highest GPAs in their sport.
