STOCKTON, Calif. — The Biola Women's Golf season came to a close on Wednesday as the team finished play at the NCAA Division II West Region Golf Championships. Head Coach Jane Carr's PacWest Conference championship team shot 312 on the final day of competition to finish 10th overall of 12 teams with a three-day team tally of 903 (+39).

The 903 is Biola's third-best three-round team total in program history and the best tally over a 54-hole event this season. Rachel Shaw and Melanie Reyes stood out from the pack today as both carded their best score of the tournament on this final day.

Shaw shot an even-par 72 buoyed by three birdies and no hole more than one stroke over par. She began her round on hole 10 and shot two-under par through a strong first nine holes of the day. She ended her round with a birdie and par to complete her junior season strong. Shaw would tally a three-day total of 229 (+13), making her the third-leading scorer for BU and tied for 45th on the leaderboard.

Reyes shot a round one 74, shot up to 79 yesterday, and then steadied today with a 73 to close out her tournament. She is the only Eagle to shoot all three rounds in the 70s at the regional championships. Her consistency helped her finish with a 226 (+10), which put her as Biola's second-best tournament finisher and 40th overall. The 226 is Reyes' collegiate best for a 54-hole event, topping her 227 shot at the 2022 NCAA Division II West Region Championship.

Round three was not as kind to Biola's unquestioned leader and career-achievement award winner, Brady Turnquist. Three bogeys in her first four holes of golf set Turnquist behind and a rough first round took her out of the title fight after shooting five-under over the first two days.

While not back to under par, Turnquist rebounded for a more controlled second nine earning par on six of her final nine holes of collegiate golf. She went 13-over on the day but still managed to pace the Biola effort for the tournament, finishing T27th overall with a three-day total of 224.

Turnquist ends her legendary Biola career with 108 rounds played and an astonishing career scoring average of 75.5.

Theresa Shaw (83) and Karis Haltom (84) rounded out the scorecards for Biola on day three, with both golfers gaining some valuable experience to close out their freshman campaigns. Shaw finished the tournament with a 232 (+16) and Haltom a 234 (+18). It's Shaw's third 232 of the season and Haltom finished one stroke back from her season-best of a 233.

The future looks bright for this Biola squad, with four of these five returning for next season. Coach Carr's bunch will look to cement dynasty status in 2024-25, with a chance to win a third title in four years.
