STOCKTON, Calif.---The Biola women's golf team faced a challenging second round of golf at the NCAA Division II West Regional.

The Eagles played through winds of up to 15 mph, but would hold their composure through the adversity to record a decent 301 second round.

"Today we played good golf, but in this field, you've got to play your best golf," reflected head coach Jane Carr. "We are only four strokes off advancing to Nationals and we know we aren't out of this yet. We will come back even stronger tomorrow. We want to be the first team in program history to go to nationals. There is a lot of fight still in us."

Biola added 301 to their first-round team score of 290 which placed them eighth of 12 teams with a combined score of 591.

The top five teams and top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the National Championships in Orlando, Florida and Biola is just four strokes shy of the tied for fifth teams St. Mary's and Colorado State-Pueblo (587).

West Texas A&M is the tournament's leader with a team score of three-under-573. DBU is sitting in second place with a team score of 574 and they are followed by third-place CSU San Marcos (578) and fourth-place CSU East Bay (581).

Brady Turnquist led the Eagles again with another stellar round. The Senior stepped up to the second-round challenge to record two-below-par 70 which tied her for first with CSU San Marcos' Madison Murr. Turnquist achieved 69 in her first round and has five-under-par 139 on her scorecard after round two.

"Brady has been an anchor for this team all season and back-to-back rounds in the 60's is incredible," stated Carr. "She is the only player in the school history to have multiple rounds in the 60's, this is now her sixth time, but to see her go back-to-back today was quite a treat. She wants to go to Nationals and is very determined to make that happen."

Turnquist also made five birdies in her second round and has 11 birdies overall.

Theresa Shaw was the Eagles' second-best scorer. The Freshman improved by a stroke from her first round, recording a second-round score of two-above-par 74. Theresa is tied for 33rd after round two with a combined score of 149 and earned three birdies in her second round.

Karis Haltom scored 78 in the second round (T40, 150) and was followed by Melanie Reyes with 79 (T48, 153) and Rachel Shaw with 82 (64th, 157).

Haltom birdied twice in her second round and has five total birdies.
