Solid Day at Oxy Invite

The Biola track & field teams had a solid day at the Occidental Invitational, participating in 18 events throughout the day.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.---The Biola track & field teams had a solid day at the Occidental Invitational, participating in 18 events throughout the day.

Biola earned three top-10 finishes and had athletes finish in the top half of participants in eight events.

Reanna Maroon showed off her skill in the pole vault, winning the event with a mark of 3.41m.

Freshman Joaquin Ramirez had the men's highest finish of the day, placing second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.13.

Jack Sapyta collected a top-10 finish in the 200m dash. Sapyta crossed the line ninth of 36 athletes with his personal best time of 21.86. Donovan Tommy also had an impressive showing in the 200m, placing 12th with a time of 22.03.

Tommy had another great showing in the men's 100m where he finished 11th of 51 participants (10.80). BU had their most entries in the men's 100m dash and two other Eagles achieved top half marks. Sapyta finished 14th (10.94) and Jayden Bennett placed 24th (11.05).

All three Eagles who competed in the women's 800m run finished in the top half of 44 athletes. Maggie Williams paced the group with a 13th-place finish and a time of 2:13.28. Behind her was Ella Voris (18th, 2:15.70) and Hailey Wurzbach (22nd, 2:16.39). 

Senior Kelaiah Moore had a solid performance in the 100m dash, finishing 17th of 33 runners with a time of 12.52.

Aidan Tomasini led BU's men in the 1,500m run with a 19th-place finish. The Junior earned a personal best time of 3:49.66. Melt von Molendorff also finished in the top half, crossing the finish line 34th of 72 individuals (3:54.23).

Ben Sonneland had a leading performance in the men's 800, placing 19th of 47 athletes with a quick time of 1:54.15. Zach Ybarra also had a notable performance, recording a personal best time of 2:00.58.

Additionally, Jeremiah Echeverria acheived a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing 15th with his new best time of 9:41.12.
