Regionals, Here We Come

The Biola women’s golf team is heading out to the Brookside Country Club to compete in the 2024 NCAA West Regional.

STOCKTON, Calif.---The Biola women's golf team is heading out to the Brookside Country Club to compete in the 2024 NCAA West Regional.

"We are excited to represent the PacWest Conference," stated head coach Jane Carr. "We know we are facing some of the strongest teams in the west region, but we also know what we are capable of when we stick with our process and let the results take care of themselves."

The three-round West Regional tournament begins on Monday, May 6 and ends on Wednesday, May 8. The Eagles will play 54 holes against 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams and top two individuals not on an advancing team will advance to the NCAA Championships at Orange County National Golf Center in Orlando, Florida.

The teams competing against Biola in the West Regional are Dallas Baptist University, West Texas A&M, St. Mary's (Texas), Cal State San Marcos, Oklahoma Christian, Midwestern State, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State LA, Cal State East Bay, CSU Pueblo and Simon Fraser.

Brady Turnquist, Rachel Shaw, Theresa Shaw and Karis Haltom are the five golfers representing Biola at the 2024 West Regionals. 

Turnquist participated in all 11 tournaments Biola has competed in this season and leads her team with an average single-round score of 74.70. She has the most top 10 finishes (10), top five (3) and is the only Eagle to be a tournament medalist. The Senior won the D2 54 for IX invitational with a three-round score of four-above-par 220.

Turnquist's lowest round of the regular season was 68.

Rachel Shaw has a single-round average of 78.38 from 10 tournaments. The Junior's highest finish of the season was third place at the Fujikura Invitational where she achieved a three-round score of eight-above-par 224. Her lowest round of the year was 72-par.

Melanie Reyes, a junior from Chula Vista, California, has a 2023-24 single-round average of 78.55 and her highest finish this season was tied for sixth at the PacWest Championships (229).

Theresa Shaw and Karis Haltom are both freshmen. Theresa has a single-round average of 78.70 and her highest tournament finish this season was 10th at the PacWest Championships (232). Theresa's lowest single-round score of 2023-24 was two-above-par 74.

Haltom's 2023-24 single-round average is 79 and her highest finish this season was T25 at the PacWest Championships (247). Her lowest single-round score of the regular season was one-above-par 73.

Biola earned the PacWest Conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA West Regionals by winning the 2024 PacWest Championships. The Eagles advance to NCAA's West Regionals for the second time in program history.
