Throwers Compete at Titan Tune-Up

Biola’s throwers went back to work, competing at the Titan Tune-Up on Friday.

FULLERTON, Calif.---Biola's throwers went back to work, competing at the Titan Tune-Up on Friday.

Seven throwers saw action at the Tritan Track Complex. Biola had entries in the men's and women's hammer, javelin, and discus throws. BU's women had one athlete compete in the shot put.

The Eagles' freshman had an impressive showing in the women's discus. Leah Gilmore, Laura Brennan and Faith Winningham recorded personal bests in the event. Gilmore earned a podium finish, third place, and led BU with a throw of 36.17m. Laura Brennan was next best in the discus, placing fifth (31.72m) and she was followed by Faith Winningham (27.48m).

Winningham and Gilmore collected another personal best in the hammer throw. Winningham led Biola with a fifth-place finish and a throw of 43.09m. Gilmore was second-best, placing seventh with a throw of 42.11m. Jordyn Tipp also had a personal best in the hammer throw where she finished eighth (35.60m) and India Young placed ninth (29.53).

Young and Tipp represneted Biola's women in the javelin throw. Young had BU's leading performance with a throw of 33.85m (5th) and Tipp finished eighth (25.68m).

Brennan was Biola's solo participant in the women's shot put, finishing fourth with a throw of 12.16m.

Mark Sizelove and Nathan Wilson represented the Eagles' men at the Titan Tune-Up. Sizelove finished second of two participants in the javelin (35.28m) and 11th in the discus (29.55m).

Wilson placed 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 34.27m.

Biola competes again tomorrow Saturday, May 4 at the Occidental Invitational.
