AZUSA, Calif.---The Biola track and field teams began the two-day APU Last Chance Meet at the Cougar Athletic Stadium.
The Eagles had athletes run in nine events, three of which were preliminary sprinting events.Â
Lynette Ruiz and Bethany Mapes excelled in the 10,000m run, earning Biola's highest finishes of the day. Lynette Ruiz led the Eagles the 10k, placing fourth of 18 runners with a quick time of 35:27.25. Bethany Mapes also finished in the top 10, crossing the finish line sixth (35:41.88).
BU had runners advance in the men's 100m College Prelim. Donovan Tommy and Dylon Lovely moved past the first preliminary event, qualifying with personal bests. Tommy improved by 60 milliseconds (10.60) and Lovely bettered his time by 30 milliseconds (10.94).Â
Tommy made it past the semi-final round, earning another personal best in the 100m with his time of 10.54. He will compete in the 100m College Finals tomorrow Saturday, May 11 at 2:30 pm.
Hailey Wurzbach placed 19th of 52 runners in the 5000m run, recording a personal best time of 17:33.34. Wurzbach shaved 12.13 seconds off of her previous best time of 17:45.47.
Melt von Molendorff had a top-half performance in the 5000m run. The Senior crossed the finish line 36th of 108 individuals with a time of 14:50.93
Maggie Williams finished in the top half of participants in the 800m run. Williams finished 30th of 61 athletes with a time of 2:17.27.
Ben Sonneland and Rouxan le Roux earned top-half finishes in the 800m run. Sonneland led Biola with a 34th-place finish and a time of 1:54.31. Le Roux placed 58th of 121 runners with a time of 1:57.11.
Ryan Todd led BU's men in the 10,000m run, placing 11th with a personal best time of 30:36.01.
Biola starts the second day of the APU Last Chance Meet at 10 a.m. tomorrow Saturday, May 11th.
