BU Wins Series

The softball team won their fourth game against Dominican 3-2 which solidified their series win over the Penguins.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.---The Biola softball team won their fourth game against Dominican 3-2 which solidified their series win over the Penguins.

Biola was ahead and stayed ahead the entire game.

The Eagles scored the first run of the game in the second inning. Brie Nowak, Makayla Jordan and Kaitlyn Hawkins contributed hits with Hawkins scoring BU's run (1-0).

Biola scored again in the second inning. Alexa Medley singled to lead-off the inning and was advanced to second off a Abie Nowak sacrifice bunt. Medley was able to score on the next play due to a Penguin fielding error (2-0).

The Penguins cashed in their first run of the game in the bottom of the second, closing the gap to one run (2-1).

Neither team would score in the fourth but both would tack on one run in the fifth.

Jordan scored Biola's third run. Jordan singled in the right center gap to score Roybal who doubled to lead off the inning (3-1).

Dominican managed to squeeze in one more run before all was said and done. The Penguins had two hits in the fifth inning but the Eagles would hold them to one run (3-2).

Roybal got the job done for Biola in the circle, holding DU scoreless in the sixth and seventh innings. Roybal threw the complete game, allowing the Penguins eight hits and two runs to score. She also struck out two.

Three Eagles batted .500 including Medley, Roybal and Jordan.

Biola plays next on Thursday, Apr. 11 at 1 and 3 p.m. at Freedom Field.
