Wrapping Up the Weekend

BU tackled the day at the Chris Rinne Twilight, thriving in the short distance and field events.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- The Eagles held their final tuneup competition at the UC Riverside Chris Rinne Twilight. A group of the BU track and field squad got their last chance to compete before the PacWest Championships next week on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27.

On Saturday, Tyler Poltl showed out in the 100 and 200, pulling times of 10.99 and 22.87, respectively. The freshman posted personal-best times in both events, while nabbing a second-place finish in the 100. 

Poltl's teammates were nor far behind in the 100. Dominic Castro and Jack Ferrence went for 6th and 11th with marks of 11.21 and 11.53.

In the field, Laura Brennan went for 12.39m and fourth place in the shot put, landing it on her first attempt. The distance was the second-best for her this season. Olivia Bellig delivered in the discus throw for seventh place at 37.88m, also on her first attempt.

Back on the track, Joaquin Ramirez picked up his best time at Biola in the 400 hurdles. The sophomore took second place in the race with a time of 54.01. 

Hannah Hanson handled the 100 hurdles for BU, pumping out a personal-best time of 14.79. She also took to the track in the 400 for her collegiate-best time of 1:02.08. In the men's 400, Richard Davenport placed sixth with a personal-best time of 50.93.

The jumps were handled by Gillian Doplemore and Maria Vidal Poy, who logged marks of 10.07m and 10.00m in the triple jump. Vidal Poy added a 5.13m long jump to her day as well.

The Eagles will be back in action at the PacWest Championships on Friday and Saturday at Westmont in Santa Barbara, California.
