Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Closing This Chapter

Biola puts up a big fight vs. HPU on the final day of play.

SURPRISE, Arizona --- Biola Women's Tennis closed out its 2024 campaign with a valiant effort against perennial PacWest powerhouse, Hawaii Pacific.

The Eagles and Sharks met in the fifth-place match on the final day of play at the 2024 PacWest Tennis Championships, with HPU taking the 4-2 win.

Biola's consistent strength in doubles shown through brightly in the early stages of the match. BU cruised to the doubles point with Lilly McNeill and Clobeyshae Emery winning 6-2 on the second court and the freshman pairing of Kailee Mazzeo and Isabella Chavarria winning 6-3 at the third court.

One of the best pairings to ever do it, Alexandria Mann and Brooke Fager were well on their way to their final victory as a pairing when things got halted at 5-3. Those three pairings finish the season with a combined record of 37-20.

Singles was more challenging for BU as the Eagles suffered losses in four of the five courts to finish before the clinch.

The one victory in singles was a critical one. It came in Emery's final singles battle of her outstanding five-year career. The 2024 recipient of the Dr. Dave Holmquist Career Achievement Award won the top flight with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 straight-set victory. She closes out her career with 71 singles wins at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.

Congratulations to Emery, Fager, McNeill and Gaby Carvajal on the conclusion of their time as active Eagles. We look forward to their continued connection to the program as alumnae.
