Jam-Packed Weekend Comes to an End

The Biola track and field teams wrapped up a jam-packed weekend of competition on Saturday, finishing the three-day Bryan Clay Invite and Long Beach State’s Beach Invitational.

LA MIRADA--- The Biola track and field teams wrapped up a jam-packed weekend of competition on Saturday, finishing the three-day Bryan Clay Invite and Long Beach State's Beach Invitational. 

Bryan Clay Invite
Biola competed in six events at APU's Bryan Clay Invitational.

Biola had the most entries in the 1500m run. BU's women were divided up between three heats. Susi Bruennig had Biola's fastest time in the event which was 4:36.08. Ella Voris had Biola's next-best time, recording 4:40.53 in the C-section. Following Voris was Bethany Mapes (4:40.79), Hailey Wurzbach (4:44.66), Karis Brown (4:48.14), Britta Holmberg (4:48.20), Alyssa Stumbo (4:52.09) and Ellie Stetina (4:54.00).

Charles Bailey led the Eagles' men with a time of 3:51.30 in the 1500. His speedy time translated to a 28th-place finish in the B heat that contained 132 individuals.

Aidan Tomasini had Biola's next-best time in the 1500m run (3:52.71) and he was followed by Jan Kuncický (3:55.04), Melt von Molendorff (3:56.26), Ben Sonneland (3:58.68) and Rouxan le Roux (3:59.68).

The Eagles throwers also saw some action, participating in the men's and women's shot put and javelin. 

Luke Hanson led BU's men in the shot put (37th, 10.45m) and javelin (35th, 30.20m). 

Laura Brennan led Biola's women in the shot put, placing 31st with a throw of 11.70m. India Young was the Eagles' leader in the javelin, finishing 39th with a 34.30m throw. Olivia Bellig earned a personal best in the javelin with her throw of 33.95m.

Beach Invitational
Biola ran in six events at the Beach Invitational.

Biola had two athletes run in the 800m. Maggie Williams' earned a big 10th-place finish in the women's 800m run with a quick time of 2:14.32. Caleb Murphy represented BU's men in 800, crossing 25th with a time of 1:56.65.

Donovan Tommy secured a top-half finish in the 100m dash, placing 39th of 90 athletes (10.71).

The Eagles had three relay teams race at the Beach Invitational who competed against a challenging group of Division I teams. 

Jayden Bennett, Tommy, Dylon Lovely, and Matthew Kaloustian were the Eagles' 4x100 relay team who finished seventh of 10 teams (41.46). 

BU's men's 4x400 relay team members included Joaquin Ramirez, Jack Sapyta, Jack Ferrence and Richie Davenport. Ramirez, Sapyta, Ferrence and Davenport placed 6th in the men's 4x400 relay with a time of 3:23.80. 

Hannah Hanson, Audrey Mousa, Ariana Quintana, and Jaden Murray represented Biola's women in the 4x400 relay. Hanson, Mousa, Quintana and Murray finished eighth of 12 squads (3:59.33). 

The track and field teams compete next at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Chris Rinne Twilight meets on Thursday, Apr. 18th and Friday, Apr. 19th.
