LA MIRADA---The time has come for the Biola women's golf team to compete in the 2024 PacWest Championships at the Mauna Lani North Course on the Big Island of Hawaii.

"This is what we have been preparing for all season," stated head coach Jane Carr. "These players have known that every tournament they played in this year has been a practice round for PacWest. The five that are representing our team are locked in this week and very intent on bringing home another PacWest championship for Biola."

The Eagles are traveling Brady Turnquist, Rachel Shaw, Melanie Reyes, Theresa Shaw and Karis Haltom to the PacWest Championships.

Turnquist, Rachel Shaw and Reyes are the Eagles' three PacWest Championship veteran golfers. Turnquist has made four conference championship appearances and Shaw and Reyes have competed in three.

Biola is led by Turnquist who has competed in every tournament BU has played in this season. She also leads her team with an average round of 74.75. 

The Senior is ranked 83rd in the Clippd rankings and is the only Eagle to breach the top 100. Turnquist is also the only Eagle to win a tournament this season. She was the 54 for IX Invitational's medalist with a two-round score of four-above-par 220.

Last season Turnquist finished T2 at the PacWest Championships with a three-round score of 232. She was also a 2023 First Team All-PacWest selection.

Rachel Shaw has competed in every tournament but one this season and has a 78.10 single-round average. Her best finish of the season (so far) was third at the Fujikura Invite where she carded a three-round-score of 224. 

Rachel Shaw finished the 2023 PacWest Championships 16th with a three-round score of 244. She was also a 2023 Third Team All-PacWest selection.

Reyes has competed in eight tournaments this season and has an average single-round score of 78.89. Her highest finish was 17th this season at the Jack Brown Memorial where she scored 13-above-par 157 in two rounds.

In the 2023 PacWest Championships, Reyes placed T17 with a three-round score of 245.

Freshmen Theresa Shaw and Haltom are appearing in their first-ever conference championships.

Haltom participated in eight tournaments this season and averaged a single-round round score of 78.47. Her highest finish was at the Swan Memorial where she placed T18 and recorded a three-round score of 233.

Theresa Shaw competed in seven invites where she averaged a single-round score of 78.94. Her best finish of the 2024 season was T24 at the Fujikura Invite where she carded a three-round score of 232.

The Eagles, as a team, finished the 2023 PacWest Championship in third place place with a combined team score of 960. Biola trailed first place Holy Names (949) and second Point Loma (955).
