FULLERTON, Calif.---The Biola track & field teams wrapped up a solid second day at the Ben Brown Invitational where they competed against a competitive field of athletes.

"We had several conference automatic qualifiers this weekend, and we are very happy with our athletes booking their ticket to conference so early in the year," stated head coaching Sean Henning. "We talked a lot this week about honoring the Lord with our best effort and intention when we step out on that track, and I think we did a good job of representing our faith well this weekend."

The Eagles competed in 11 events where they achieved four top 10 finishes. Biola also had 17 athletes finish in the top half of participants in their respective events.

"Priscilla Jones had a really good day," reflected Henning. "She dipped under 15 seconds in the 100 hurdles for the first time, ran a solid 200m race, and set another school record in the shot put with a throw of 13.51 meters. She also beat a lot of really good girls in the process."

Priscilla Jones recorded one of Biola's top 10 finishes and set a program record in the shot put. Jones broke the school record for the shot put for the first time last weekend at the Beach Opener and then surpassed her own record today at the Ben Brown Invite. Her previous school record throw was 13.20m and her new record-breaking throw traveled 13.51m which placed her seventh.

Jones had a day at the Ben Brown Invite where she recorded three personal bests. In addition to the shot put, she had a top half finish in the 100m hurdles where she placed 21st of the 47 individuals with a personal best time of 14.96. She also recorded a personal best in the 200m dash with a quick time of 25.76.

"On the men's side, the young sprinters continue to do a great job learning and growing each week," commented Henning. "Donovan Tommy and Matt Kaloustian led the way, both running solid in the 100 and 200. Joaquin Ramirez won the 400m hurdles, and Jack Sapyta had a solid personal best in his first 400 of the year."

Joaquin Ramirez had the highest finish of the day. The Sophomore placed fifth in the 400m hurdles with a personal best time of 56.11.

BU's other top 10 finishes were in the men's and women's 400m dashes. Jack Sapyta and Jaden Murray placed 10th in the men's and women's races.

Sapyta earned a personal best time of 49.29 and Murray made her collegiate debut in the 400m with a speedy time of 58.12.

Biola had their strongest group showing in the men's 100m dash where four athletes placed in the top half of runners. Donovan Tommy paced the Eagles with a personal best time of 10.76 which placed him 25th. Following Tommy was Matthew Kaloustian (32nd, 10.86), Jayden Bennett (51st, 11.11) and Dylon Lovely (52nd, 11.11).

Additionally, BU had solid group showings in the women's 400 and men's 200. Murray led Biola in the 400 and she was followed by Audrey Mousa (18th, 59.41) and Ariana Quintana (28th, 1:00.96) who also finished in the top half of athletes.

Tommy also led the men in the 200 with a 17th place finish and a personal best time of 21.93. Matthew Kaloustian (22nd, 22.03) and Sapyta (36th, 22.41) also finished in the top half of the 56 athletes running in the 200m dash.
