Eagles Drop Third Game to Silverswords

After winning the first two games of the day against Chaminade, Biola lost the third 6-4 at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA—The Biola softball team had a busy Good Friday where they played Chaminade three times at Freedom Field. After winning their first two games of the day, Biola lost their third game 6-4 to Chaminade.

The Eagles' final game was intense as the lead switched between the teams. Chaminade began with a 1-0 lead that the Eagles' stole to lead 2-1 after the first inning. 

Over the next two innings, Chaminade built up their lead to 4 runs which left Biola chasing by two (4-2). 

BU answered back in the bottom of the third, tying up the game 4-4. Raylene Roybal singled to center to score Kennadie Tsue and Alexa Medley. Tsue had a lead-off single and Medley got on base by a fielder's choice.

Three scoreless innings passed and the Silverswords would ultimately be the ones to break the standstill.

Chaminade scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning off of one hit and one Eagle error (6-4).

DJ Symons got the third-game start and threw 1.2 innings where she allowed five hits and three runs to score. Kayla Bousquette came in to relieve in the second inning, successfully working Biola out of a tricky situation by getting the final out of the inning.

Bousquette continued to throw 3.1 good innings of work and allowed five hits and one run to score. Roybal came in to close the game in the top of the sixth. Roybal only allowed Chaminade one hit and no earned runs to score.

Biola plays next on Friday, Apr. 5 at 12 p.m. at Dominican.
