Day One at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic

The Eagles competed in four events on the first day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. --- The Biola track and field teams' distance runners completed the first day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic where they participated in the men's and women's 1500m and 5000m runs on Friday. 

Biola's women stood out with a ninth-place finish in the 5000 race and a top 25 placement in the 1500m race. 

Maggie Williams started things off in the 1500m event with her 4:40.45, top 25 finish. Alyssa Stumbo set a personal best at 4:58.14 in the event and Miranda Zakhar made her collegiate debut in the 1500m race. 

Susi Bruennig closed out the day for the women in the 5000m event where she placed ninth with a time of 16:51.77. Britta Holmberg also raced in the 5000 where she also set a new personal record with a time of 17:11.57. 

The women weren't the only Eagles to set personal records on the first day of the meet. Six Eagles competed in the men's 1500m race and two of them set personal records. 

Jeremiah Echeverria crossed the finish line at 4:08.36 beating out his previous best time of 4:10.13. Nick Geringer followed with his 4:08.47 mark which was 1.5 seconds better than his previous best recorded at the Beach Opener. 

Aidan Tomasini and Melt von Molendorff represented the Eagles in the men's 5000 event where they competed against multiple Division I institutions as well as fellow PacWest teams. 

BU will keep the action rolling as the Mike Fanelli Track Classic continues on Saturday, March 30.
