PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.---The Biola women's golf team finished the first day of the Patriot Invitational seventh of the 13 teams with a two-round team score of 616.

The Eagles battled a competitive field of 13 teams, including three ranked squads by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The WGCA's nationally-ranked teams were No. 2 DBU, No. 16 Cal State San Marcos and No. 18 Midwestern.

The top three teams after the first two rounds were first-place DBU (577), second Cal State San Marcos (597) and third Cal State Monterey Bay (599).

The scorecards between teams four through eight were extremely close. The five teams differed by no more than two strokes between each team. Fourth-place Cal State East Bay led the group with a scorecard of 611,  followed by fifth Midwestern (613), sixth CSULA (614), seventh Biola (616), and eighth UT Permian Basin (618).  

Brady Turnquist led Biola, tied for fourth, with a two-round scorecard of 146. The Senior carded two-below-par 70 in her first round and then 76 in her second. Turnquist recorded five birdies throughout her first two rounds.

Rachel Shaw was next-best on the leaderboard, 25th, with a two-round score 155. Shaw recorded 79 in her first round and shaved three strokes off her second (76). Shaw led the Eagles in birdies, earning six.

Following Shaw was Karis Haltom (T26, 156), Theresa Shaw and Melanie Reyes (T43, 160).

Biola will play their last round tomorrow Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 7:30 a.m. at the Poppy Hills Golf Course.
