Roybal Sparks Seventh Inning Rally

Raylene Roybal sparked the seventh-inning rally that allowed Biola to surpass nationally-ranked No. 9 Cal State San Marcos 10-2 at the CSUSM Softball Field.

SAN MARCOS, Calif.---Raylene Roybal sparked the seventh-inning rally that allowed Biola to surpass nationally-ranked No. 9 Cal State San Marcos 10-2 at the CSUSM Softball Field.

When Roybal stepped up to bat Biola was down 2-1 with one out in the top of the seventh inning with runners on first and third. Roybal's bomb over the left-center field fence put the Eagles ahead 4-2.

Roybal's homerun sparked a seventh-inning rally where Biola scored six more runs off of five hits and three Cougars errors.

Jackie Ibarra, Abie Nowak, Makayla Jordan, Mikala Huskey and Brie Nowak recorded singles that allowed Biola to end the inning up 10-2.

DJ Symons then shut down Cal State San Marcos on defense throwing a 1-2-3 inning that included a strikeout looking to end the game.

Kayla Bousquette started the game on the mound for Biola and threw four innings against the Cougars. The Sophomore allowed six hits and two runs to score.

Symons relieved Bousquette in the fifth inning and efficiently closed the game out for BU, only allowing CSUSM two hits while holding them scoreless.
