Biola Loses Battle to PLNU

The women’s tennis team battled in their 5-2 loss against Point Loma, McNeill and Mann recorded singles wins and three Eagles lost in three sets.

LA MIRADA—Lilly McNeill and Alexandria Mann recorded singles wins in the Biola women's tennis team's 5-2 loss to Point Loma at the Biola Tennis Center.

McNeill outlasted PLNU's Thelma Sepulveda in a three-set duel. McNeill lost her first set 6-3 and came back to win 6-4, 6-2. Meanwhile, Mann came up with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on the fifth court over PLNU's Anna Pallencaoe.

Three of Biola's four singles losses were three-set battles. 

Colbeyshae Emery fell in a three-set tiebreak to PLNU's Letzring. Emery lost her first set 6-4 and came back with a 6-2 win in her second. The third set was extremely close, with Letzring edging Emery 7-5 in the tiebreak. 

Kailee Mazzeo lost to her opponent in three sets as well. Mazzeo won her first set in the tiebreak but would fall 6-0, 6-0 in her last two.

On the sixth court, Isabella Chavarria battled with PLNU's Melissa Zirkle. Chavarria won her first set 6-4, but would fall 6-4 in her last two. 

McNeill and Colbeyshae Emery defeated PLNU's Quin Brady and Amanda Letzring 7-5 in doubles, but the Sea Lions would clinch the point thanks to wins on courts 1 and 3.

The Eagles will regroup and prepare for their Arizona road trip which begins on Wednesday, Feb. 28 against Ottawa at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club.
