Biola leads on both sides through three days at the PCSC Championships with one day of competition to go.

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- The PCSC Championships saw Biola take control on Friday evening with a variety of top-tier finishes. The group gathered four event crowns and nine podium placements on day three of the conference competition.

The BU men opened up the day in second place as a team but made the move up with the day's events. The team ended Friday with 519.5 points to lead second place UC Santa Cruz by a mere two points.

The biggest winner for the men's squad was in the 100 backstroke. Nathan Griffin claimed the victory with a time of 49.18. He was the only swimmer to finish under 50 seconds in his dominant win. Alejandro Marchesini was the next finisher, taking silver in the 100 backstroke. The sophomore nabbed a time of 50.30 for second place.

The points kept coming in the 100 back event, as the Eagles placed two more men in the top-10. Jackson Black picked up a sixth place finish, while Ryan Monrean grabbed eighth.

On the women's side the squad only extended their lead on Friday, widening the gap to 70 points between them and second place.

Morgan Kampfer made sure their day started well in the 100 butterfly. Kampfer eked out the win by just .7 seconds with a time of 56.23. Emilee Elizondo added points for the Eagles with a 10th place finish in the event.

Another event crown came by way of Meghan Tolman in the 100 breaststroke. The redshirt junior won by the slimmest of margins, defeating second place by .1 seconds. Tolman touched at 1:04.88 for the individual championship in the event.

The Biola men put together a strong team showing in the 400 individual medley with two podium finishes. Gavin Souttere led the BU pack in second place at 4:02.27 and was quickly followed by Sean Rho in bronze at 4:02.90. The good times continued to roll with Karter McNutt grabbing sixth place and Michael Maurer nabbing 14th for four scorers in the event.

Allison Yancey earned a silver medal for the Eagles in the 100 backstroke, touching at 56.19. She also was the lead leg in the team's 400 medley relay which won gold. Yancey, Tolman, Kampfer, and Munholland joined forces in the relay to claim first place, while dropping four seconds off their seed time for a 3:48.54 mark.

The men's team finished third in the 400 medley relay but stood just .22 seconds off the lead squad.

Three BU swimmers scored in the 100 breaststroke, including Jacob Haaksma, Tate Fitzgerald, and Gavin Kelley. Haaksma and Fitzgerald went back-to-back in fourth and fifth with times of 57.10 and 57.32 and Kelley finished in 12th at 59.38.

The last day of competition will be on Saturday with the preliminary races beginning at 9:30 am.
