Eagles Wrap Up Semester at Home

Biola took to Lansing Pool against Cal Baptist on Saturday for its final competition of the semester.

LA MIRADA --- Saturday's swim meet was unique in the events making up the day. The day consisted of mixed relays and 50 yard events for each stroke in a dual meet between Biola and California Baptist, along with other rare distances for each stroke.


CBU won the day on both sides, netting a 262-37 win on the women's side and a 259-39 edge on the men's.

Koen Vos showed his strength in the freestyle, netting 15 points with first and second place finishes. The freshman nabbed first in the 50 free with the best time of 21.85 and landed in second place in the 200 free at 1:43.91 for a season-best mark.

Angelina Ahmadi-Kashani was a well-rounded talent for the Eagles, scoring in multiple events. Her best finish came in the 50 backstroke, netting second place at 28.15. She also offered a podium showing in the 50 butterfly with a mark of 27.59, which made for a season-best time.

Biola's best relay performance was the A team, nabbing third place in the 400 freestyle mixed relay.

The Biola men saw three third place finishes in the slew of 150 swims of backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. In the 150 back, Alejandro Marchesini took third at 1:28.83 for three points and was followed by Eli Houseman in fourth. Jacob Haaksma scored third in the 150 breaststroke, touching at 1:34.42 and Sean Rho recorded a time of 1:24.66 for third place in the 150 butterfly.

Coco Friedley added a silver medal to her day with a time of 1:45.83 in the 150 breaststroke.

Marchesini also claimed second place on Saturday, doing so in the 50 backstroke at 25.01.

The BU women netted third and fourth place in the 300 free and 150 back. Emily Sheldon and Chloe Colvard were third and fourth, respectively, in the 300 free being separated by .21 seconds. In the 150 backstroke, Allison Yancey was third place at 1:35.51, while Savanna Taylor touched at 1:39.29 for fourth.

Phoebe Munholland showed her speed in the 50 free, posting a time of 25.19 for third place.

Over in Riverside, the Biola divers competed against NCAA DI talent from San Diego State and UNLV, along with CUI and Chapman. Lorelai Carney led the way, placing 12th in the 1M finals (220.80) and 10th in the 3M finals (239.40). For the men, Caleb Pook led the way, scoring fifth place in the 3M finals (212.35) and third place in the 1M finals (265.50).


The Eagles will return to action in the spring at Pomona-Pitzer on January 18.
