Mackay Adds Experience as Diving Coach

The Biola Swimming and Diving squad added to its coaching staff, bringing on Elizabeth Mackay at the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

December 06, 2024

LA MIRADA --- Elizabeth Mackay was the newest addition to the Biola Swim and Dive Coaching Staff, joining the team in the summer of 2024. Mackay was named the new Head Diving Coach, bringing along plenty of experience and knowledge.

"I am extremely excited to have Coach Elizabeth join our coaching staff!" said Head Swim and Dive Coach Nate Harding. "Elizabeth brings a wealth of knowledge to help our dive program continue to grow!"

Mackay combined an incredible playing career with excellent coaching experience.

Elizabeth's diving career is highlighted by her achievements as a five-time Canadian National Champion on the 10-meter platform. She has competed in prestigious international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games and the Pan-Am Games, and she was the sole Canadian female diver to qualify for both the 3-meter and 10-meter events at the 1980 Olympic Games. Her competitive spirit and skill earned her numerous podium finishes across various international events.

Prior to becoming an Eagle, she was an Assistant Coach for the Charger Dive Club and the Valley Dive Club, mentoring and leading novice and Junior Olympics (JO) athletes. She focuses on developing the talent and self-confidence in athletes so they can overcome life's challenges.

"I'm excited to continue to watch our divers develop and thrive as student-athletes under her leadership," added Harding. "Elizabeth also understands the unique student-athlete experience that Biola provides and she is eager to help recruit student-athletes that fit this Christ-centered student experience."

Mackay and the Eagles have opened up the 2024-25 season and look towards the conference championships in February with one more meet before Christmas break.
