October 09, 2024

LA MIRADA --- The Eagles battled at the Rodionoff Invite at Pepperdine this past weekend, taking on competition across all three divisions in the NCAA. The squad thrived in many aspects of the meet, as Jacob Haaksma earned a PCSC Swimmer of the Week award, while Abby DePina and Sebastian Burgos each corralled a PCSC Diver of the Week honor.

Haaksma did it all in the pool, competing in his full array of events for Biola. The senior delivered with four event victories, three individual and one relay, between Friday and Saturday. The 200 and 400 individual medleys belonged to Haaksma and he added a win in the 100 breast to cement a stellar showing in the pool. Haaksma leads the conference for his times in the 200 and 400 IMs, along with his group's time in the 400 medley relay.

On the diving board, DePina shined in her second performance of 2024. The junior took second place for Division II competition with her best scores since January of last season. She now holds top-three six-dive scores in the conference for both the 3M and 1M boards.

For the men, Burgos also landed in second place for Division II on both the 3M and 1M boards. The senior continued to improve on his scores, holding the second-best scores in the conference for both boards.

Biola Aquatics will be back in action on October 19 for the MPSF Open Water Meet.
