WAIKOLOA VILLAGE, Hawaii---The Biola women's golf team concluded the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate sixth of 15 teams with a two-round team score of +31 at the Village Course at Waikoloa.

"Great finish for us today," stated head coach Jane Carr. "I felt like a sixth place finish was a solid accomplishment in a field that had four teams ranked in the top 20 nationally."

Carr continued, "We've had back to back tournaments with all our players shooting in the low to mid-70's. That consistency is so important. Our players are learning a lot which is really important to me. This is a great start for us as a team and will give us confidence going into spring."

Biola's two-round team score of 607 placed them ahead of two teams that are receiving votes from the Women's Golf Coaches Association, Hawaii Hilo and CSU Monterey Bay. BU also outperformed the other PacWest Conference teams in attendance, ending the tournament 10 strokes better than HPU, 22 above Vanguard and 51 ahead of Hawaii Hilo.

The Eagles shaved off three strokes from their first round. Melanie Reyes carded the Eagles' best second-round of two-above-par 74. Rachel Shaw was one stroke behind her, recording 75 and she was followed by Theresa Shaw (76) and Laura Ortiz (77), Abigale Morris (77).

Ortiz was Biola's leading golfer tying for 14th overall with a combined score of 151. The Senior was closely trailed by Reyes (T19, 152), Morris, (T29, 153), Theresa Shaw (T29, 153) and Rachel Shaw (T32, 154).

Claire Shubin competed as an individual and ended up finishing 13th with a two-round score of 150. The Graduate Student carded three-above-par 75 in both rounds.

Rachel Shaw and Ortiz led the Eagles in birdies, scoring five each while Shubin led BU in par-scoring, collecting 26 pars.

The Eagles will continue their Hawaii road trip at the HPU Sharks Shootout, which begins on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Mauna Lani North Course.
