Eagles Change Pace for Open Water Meet

A small group of Biola swimmers made the trip to Long Beach on Saturday for the MPSF Open Water Championships.

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- Biola Aquatics saw a change in venue this weekend, taking a swim in the Pacific Ocean. The MPSF Open Water Championships were held in Long Beach and featured a few long distance events including the 5k open water swim and the 2000 meter freestyle relay.


The 5k opened up the morning and Noah Hall took to the water for the men's squad. Hall scored 14 points for the BU team, placing 14th in the event. He clocked a time of 1:06:23 in the long distance race.

A pair of Eagles took to the course in the women's 5k race. Emily Sheldon came in at 1:11:45 and scored six points for the Eagles. She grabbed 21st place and was followed by teammate Coco Friedley in 38th place. Friedley logged a time of 1:15:15 on Saturday.

A relay squad of Sofia Chavez-Varela, Morgan Kampfer, Rachel Munch, and Chloe Colvard took on the challenge of the 2000 meter relay. Each swimmer took a leg of 500 meters and recorded a collective time of 26:48.00 for 44 points in sixth place.

Biola swimming and diving will be back in action at home on Saturday, October 26 for an intrasquad meet at Lansing Pool.
