SANTA CLARITA, Calif.---The Biola women's cross country team showed out at the Master's Invitational, claiming first place of 16 teams.

Biola totaled 33 team points and led second-place Claremont-Mudd Scripps (44) by 11 points. 

"The ladies won the team title, which is great," stated head coach Sean Henning. "We still aren't at full strength and have to add two more girls into the mix in two weeks, but I think the girls are trending in the right direction." 

Henning continued, "We need to get a little bit better at working together to pull each other along and we need to get our full roster in place, but we are definitely going the way we need to go. I'm excited for where the Lord is taking this team, all glory be to God!" 

The Eagles posted impressive numbers this morning with five runners in the top 10, nine in the top 50 and all 13 in the top 100 of  194 athletes.

Bethany Mapes led Biola in the 8k with a third place finish and a personal best time of 21:12.1.

Susi Bruennig made her college debut and had an exciting start as the Eagles' second-best finisher. Bruennig was .8 milliseconds behind Mapes, recording 21:12.9 as her finish time in fourth place.

Britta Holmberg, Lynette Ruiz, and Hailey Wurzbach rounded out the top 10. Holmberg crossed the line seventh with a time of 21:20.6, Ruiz was ninth at 21:24.5 and Wurzbach recorded 10th at 21:33.7.

Behind Wurzbach was Karis Brown (15th, 22:00.8), Lolo Landrith (22nd, 22:15.8), Keira Coye (38th, 22:58.5), Alyssa Stumbo (48th, 23:21.6), Lillianna Sosa (52nd, 23:26.7), Ella Voris (57th, 23:35.9), Emily Jensen (77th, 24:00.8) and Miranda Zakhar (99th, 24:40.8).

Next up for the Eagles is the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Claremont, California.
