FINAL RESULTS
GOODYEAR, Ariz.---The Biola women's golf team ended the RJGA Shootout strong, improving 12 strokes from their first round. The Eagles' second round score of four-above-par 292 bumped them four slots up on the leaderboard which tied them for seventh of 14 teams with a combined team score of 596.
Nationally-ranked No. 14 Cal State East Bay ended up as the tournament's team Champions (+8), Texas A&M International came up from third to take second place (+12) and Cal State LA tied for third with Arkansas-Fort Smith and Point Loma (+14).
BU ended up tying with Western New Mexico for seventh (+20) and were three strokes behind the sixth place team, UT-Permian Basin who went 17-above-par in the two-round invite.
The Eagles' second round score of 292 was the second-best single round team score in program history behind their 288 round at NCAA West Regionals in Spring 2022. Additionally, Biola's combined score of 596 was their second-best two-round team tournament score in program history. Their program best two-round tournament team score is 591 from the NCCAA West Regional in 2018.
All of Biola's players improved in their second rounds. Brady Turnquist led once again with a second round score of one-under-par 71 which was two strokes improved from her first round of 73, totaling 144 which tied her for ninth.
Karis Haltom was the next best Eagle on the scoreboard, tied for 22nd with a three-stroke improved second round score of 73 (149).
Laura Ortiz bettered her second round score by three strokes as well with a second round score of 74 which placed her T32 (151).
Rachel Shaw had a great outing, cutting her second round score by six strokes. The Junior shot 74 in her second round which moved her up to T41 on the leaderboard (154).
Hailey Hays and Theresa Shaw tied for 46th (155). Hays improved by one stroke in second round (77) and Theresa Shaw improved by seven with a two-above-par 74 second round.Â
Next up for the Eagles is the Westminster Wasatch Invitational in South Jordan, Utah on Monday, Sep. 25.Â
