GOODYEAR, Ariz.---The Biola women's golf team wrapped up their first round of the two-day RJGA shootout at the Golf Club of Estrella. The Eagles sit in 11th of 14 teams with a team score of 304 (+16).

Biola faced a competitive field that included two ranked teams and one team receiving votes from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Cal State East Bay is ranked 14th-best in the nation, Point Loma is 21st-best and Texas A&M International is receiving votes in the WGCA's preseason poll. 

However, it was Cal State Los Angeles who ended up leading the field of teams with a first round team score of five-above-par 293. Arkansas-Fort Smith (+6), Texas A&M International (+8), Point Loma (+9), and Colorado Christian (+10) rounded out the top five.

Brady Turnquist led the Eagles with a strong first round score of one-above-par 73 (tied for 10th on the leaderboard). Turnquist is just five strokes behind the invitational's leader from MSU Denver Isabelle Botero. 

Karis Haltom was Biola's next best scorer, tied for 30th with a first round score of four-above-par 76.

Behind Haltom was Laura Ortiz (T40, 77), Hailey Hays (T47, 78) and Rachel Shaw (T60, 80).

Theresa Shaw competed as an individual for BU. The Freshman tied for 64th of 74 athletes with a first round score of 81. 

The Eagles will continue tomorrow with one more round beginning with a shot gun start at 7:30 a.m.
