Biola Racks Up All-PacWest Honors

The softball team was well represented in the PacWest Conference’s all-conference teams, claiming two special awards and eight all-conference selections.

LA MIRADA---The Biola Softball team was well represented in the PacWest Conference's all-conference teams, claiming two special awards and eight all-conference selections.

Colby McClinton headlined the Eagles as the PacWest's Player and Freshman of the Year. McClinton started every game this season for the Eagles at shortstop. The true Freshman made quite the impression in the PacWest, dominating in four major statistical hitting categories including batting average (.477), hits (72), on base percentage (0.559), and on base plus slugging (1.182). McClinton is also a national leader with the 12th-highest batting average in the Division II. 

Of her 72 hits, 12 were doubles and five were triples. McClinton has cashed in 26 RBIs and is 16-for 20 on the base path. 

Biola's last PacWest Player of the Year was Kayla Neff four years ago (2019).

McClinton was also a First Team All-PacWest selection with Rilee Ruvalcaba and Raylene Roybal. Ruvalcaba has started 42 games for Biola at second base and has been a key player in the Eagles' offensive line-up. Ruvalcaba is batting .331 with 41 hits, four doubles and two triples.

Roybal was a first team pick for outfield. Roybal has played 27 games in right field for Biola and brings power to their offensive line-up with a .325 batting average, .484 slugging percentage, 41 hits, 10 doubles, two triples and two home runs.

Ruvalcaba the Eagles' next first team selection. Ruvalcaba started at second base 42 times this season and is a key batter in the Eagles' line-up. Ruvalcaba is batting .331 this season with 41 hits, four doubles and two triples. Ruvalcaba is good at finding her way on base with a .381 on base percentage. Ruvalcaba has 58 assists at second base and recorded 110 putouts.


Representing Biola on the PacWest's second team is Roybal, Jennifer Morinishi, and Allie Beck.

Roybal was selected as a Second Team All-PacWest pitcher. Roybal's ERA of 2.17 is the fifth-best in the conference. Roybal has been the Eagles' ace, starting in 22 games and making 33 appearances. Roybal has the fourth-most wins in the PacWest (14) and has the third-most saves (3).

Roybal's opponents only average .217 against her which is also fourth-best in the league. Roybal has also struck out 100 batter's this season, which is fourth-best in the PacWest. Roybal was selected as PacWest Pitcher of the Week four times this season.


Jennifer Morinishi was chosen as a second team outfielder. Morinishi started all 47 games in center field for Biola, batting .315 with 47 hits, five doubles, two triples and one home run. Morinishi has been an important bat for BU, slugging .396 and has a .358 on base percentage. The Graduate Student has also cashed in 15 RBIs this season.

Allie Beck was picked as a second team designated player. Beck has played 24 games in the DP spot for Biola and has been extremely successful in her role. Beck averages .424 in the batter's box which is second best in the conference (behind McClinton). Beck has racked up 25 hits, two doubles and one triple. Beck's on base percentage is .485 and her on base plus slugging percentage is .977. Beck has 11 sacrifice bunts, which is second most in the conference.

Abie Nowak and Kaitlyn Hawkins are Biola's final All-PacWest players on the third team. Nowak was an All-PacWest Third Team First Baseman, starting in 46 games for the Eagles. Nowak is another crucial power batter in the Eagles' offense. Nowak leads the Eagles with 38 RBIs and averages .329 in the batter's box with 50 hits, nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. 

Nowak also leads her team with 315 putouts of 333 chances and has been a part of 14 double plays. 

Kaitlyn Hawkins wraps up Biola's all-conference players as a Third Team All-PacWest third baseman. Hawkins has started in 46 games this season at third base and has been a part of eight double plays. Hawkins averages .273 in the batter's box with 38 hits, four doubles and two triples. The Junior also has a slugging percentage of .331 this season and has knocked in 16 RBIs.
