West Region Softball Rankings

The softball team was ranked No. 8 in the West Region in the NCAA’s first round of regional rankings.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.---The NCAA released their first round of Division II softball regional rankings where the Biola softball team (27-18 overall, 19-9 PacWest) was ranked No. 8 in the West Region.

The top eight teams in each region will advance to their respective regional. Biola, sitting at No. 8, is still on the borderline with one more ranking to be released before the final selection show. 

The Eagles lead the PacWest Conference with a team batting average of .314. Colby McClinton has the highest batting average in the PacWest (.490) and Allie Beck is also in the top 10 best hitters in the conference, batting .365. McClinton leads the PacWest in four other statistical categories including: slugging percentage, on base percentage, on base plus slugging percentage and hits. 

In the circle, Raylene Roybal has been the Eagles ace. Roybal has the second-most wins in the conference (14) and has the third-most saves (3). Roybal also ranks third in most batters struck out looking with 31 batters. Roybal has been PacWest Pitcher of the Week four times this year.

The Eagles play their last regular season game on Sunday, Apr. 30 against Dominican at 3 and 5 p.m. After that, Biola will begin the PacWest Championships as the second seed on Wednesday, May 3rd.
