Pierce Shined, Eagles Close Chris Rhinne Twilight Meet

The track and field teams concluded the Chris Rhinne Twilight Meet, Jada Pierce shined with two podium finishes.

RIVERSIDE, Calif.---The Biola track and field teams put in some work at UC Riverside's Chris Rhinne Twilight Meet.

Jada Pierce shined for the Eagles with two podium finishes. Pierce won the women's javelin with a throw that sailed 35.69m and had a second place finish in the hammer throw. Pierce's hammer throw of 48.15m was also a personal best. Her previous best was 49.31m at the 2022 PacWest Championships. 

Sara Chao also earned a podium finish in the javelin event. Chao placed third with a throw of 34.42m.

Maria Vidal Poy led Biola in the 400m run with a seventh place finish and a time of 1:00.19.

Priscilla Jones had a top time in the 100m dash which was an event that she ran competitively for the first time. Jones placed 29th of 31 runners with a time of 12.71.

Hailey Schadt and Emily Jensen also fared well in the 800m run. Schadt led the Eagles with a 16th place finish (2:25.37) and Jensen came through next in 18th (2:26.98).

On the men's side, Dominic Castro had an impressive performance in the 200m dash. Castro recorded the men's highest event finish at the Chris Rhinne Twilight Meet with a 13th place finish. Castro also earned a personal best with his time of 22.52 in the 200m dash. In addition, Castro led Biola in the 100m dash with a time of 11.30 which landed him 19th of 31 runners.

Jack Ferrence also finished in the top 20 in the 100m run, recording a time of 11.20 which landed him 20th. 

Next up for the Eagles is the PacWest Championships at Azusa Pacific that are scheduled to begin on Friday, Apr. 28.
